Two-step verification means that, in addition to the code by email, you need to enter a code from an app on your phone. That way nobody can take over the company's account with access to your email alone.
Who needs to use it?
- Owners must always use two-step verification. Without it, they can't use the dashboard.
- Other roles in the team aren't asked for it.
- Consumers can't turn it on today.
How to turn it on
You're asked to do it the first time you log in as owner, or once you've claimed a profile.
- Install an authenticator app on your phone, e.g. Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator or 1Password.
- Under Turn on two-step verification, scan the QR code with the app. If you can't scan, enter the key below the QR code in the app, or choose Open in the authenticator app on your phone.
- The app now shows a 6-digit code for TrustSays that changes every 30 seconds.
- Enter the code. When it matches, two-step verification is turned on.
When you log in
- Log in at business login with the code from the email.
- Under Two-step verification, enter the code from the app.
You need to do this every time you log in on a new device or again after being logged out. If you haven't been active for 12 hours, you need to log in again.
Under Settings, Security in the dashboard you can see that Two-step verification is turned on.
If the code doesn't match
- Wait for the next code in the app and enter it. A code can only be used once.
- Check that the clock on your phone is set automatically. If the clock is wrong, the codes won't match.
- If you've entered it wrong many times, wait a quarter of an hour and try again.
New phone or lost app
There are no backup codes or SMS codes. If you move to a new phone, move the app's codes over before you delete the old one. If you've lost access to the app, contact us. You can't turn off two-step verification yourself.
