Create, store and revoke API keys

You create the API key for free under Settings, API and webhooks. It's only shown once.

With an API key, your own systems can report orders to TrustSays and create order tokens for the star widget. The key is free on all plans. Score and reviews can be fetched without a key.

Create a key

  1. Open the dashboard and choose your company.
  2. Go to Settings, API and webhooks.
  3. Choose Create new.
  4. Choose Copy, and store the key somewhere safe, e.g. in your server's environment variables.

The key looks like this: ts_prefix_secret. It's only shown this one time. We store it encrypted and can't show it again.

Replace the key

How to switch to a new key without downtime:

  1. Choose Create new and copy the new key.
  2. Put the new key into your systems.
  3. Check that the calls work.
  4. Find the old key under Other keys and choose Revoke.

Revoke a key

Choose Revoke and then Confirm. Systems that use the key stop working straight away. It can't be undone. Always revoke a key you think others have seen.

Below the key it shows when it was created and when it was last used.

Who can create keys

The owner and the Admin role.

If it doesn't work

  • You can't see the key again: Create a new one and revoke the old one.
  • The calls return Invalid signature: Check that the key hasn't been revoked and that the whole key has been copied.
